I was certain I wanted to be married in a Lutheran Church, but I was having trouble finding one near downtown Kansas City (I grew up about an hour outside of KC, so I didn't have a home church near downtown). I had some extended family who belong here. It is a really pretty church, and working with Pastor B was great. He was really nice and accommodating since we had to travel from New York to do our pre-wedding meetings/planning/counseling/etc. I am really happy with the ceremony overall.

Rev. Brooks was also great to work with and made us feel very comfortable and relaxed when it mattered most! We live in Colorado but flew to KC about 6 weeks before the wedding and he welcomed us into his home for a brief get-to-know-you kind of meeting. He listened to what we wanted and provided suggestions to guide us along the way. He was very friendly and professional but most of all a genuinely nice individual. We got the impression that his greatest concern was that we were enjoying ourselves and we could not have picked a better officiant!

First Christian Church in Platte City
ChrisAngel!
Wonderful venue. It is a non-denominational church. Historical landmark built in the 1800s. The church is tiny and will fit 150 max. It does not have a center aisle, rather two aisles. When you walk in, you can't help but be swept away by the woodwork and beautiful stained glass. I loved it because we packed the house, so the wedding had the image of "full" instead of being in a huge church and only being able to fill a quarter of the pews... kind of depressing! lol. We loved it! Quaint and a ton of character! Very affordable, less than $500. Pastor Kerry is awesome and very funny. He definitely puts you at ease on your wedding day.

Ginny was great from our first meeting to the day of. She crafted a
ceremony just for us and it was exactly what we wanted. Short and sweet and to the point. She works with you to find out exactly what you want.

We were among the crazies to get up really early on Jan 3 to make sure we could get our time and day (and apparently the last bunch to do so since they changed the date you can reserve it). It makes for a good story, and we had all the rules down so there weren't any surprises. It was super hot, and I almost passed out after the ceremony, but at least it wasn't raining! I do recommend making sure you have bottled water for guests if you are having a wedding there. My husband said there weren't many who took advantage before the ceremony, but after the ceremony everyone bee-lined for the water. Also, be prepared to be charged twice as much for having any chairs delivered to the Rose Garden. Since it's a public park, the companies basically kind of wait around during your ceremony so they can get the chairs (because they cannot leave them there). I get the impression from quoting a bunch of companies that they hate going out
there lol.

What can I say, I love it here.
Neither H nor I are particularily religious, but we wanted the ceremony in a
religious setting. I love the Unity Temple- everyone is so welcoming and laid
back. They will do your wedding no matter what religion you are- Buddhist,
Jewish, Catholic, whatever. Everyone is welcome. There are three settings to
choose from, depending on how big your wedding is. The santuary holds over 1000
people, the chapel (where our ceremony was) holds about 200, and then there is a
tiny chapel that holds about 30 people. There are two ministers, and you can
choose who you would like to do your wedding. There id Heidi and Duke, and we
had Heidi do our wedding. We love her- she made both of us feel so welcome and
comfortable, and the ceremony was beautiful! Both ministers have a sample layout
of a ceremony for you, but you can add or leave out whatever you want.

Our ceremony was short and sweet. She did a nice job, and was a sweet lady. She even hung out and had a drink and took pictures with us during our cocktail hour (at our request).
