Dresses/Alterations
Davids bridal
Whitneykaye87 review~ - A
I wasn't planning to buy a dress when I went to David's in Independence; I just wanted to try on a bunch of dresses before some appointments the next day to get a good idea of what I wanted. I loved the 7th dress I tried on, but I kept my other appointments. I didn't like anything better at Mia's or Ida's, so I went back to David's and bought it. I was lucky that my dress style had been discontinued, so I bought the sample for $199. They did a great job on the bustle- it looked beautiful and actually held the entire night even though I did a lot of dancing, jumping, etc.

Got only my shoes there. They were a great price and pretty- I had them dyed one color but they were dyed another. I made sure it was my order and it was so I let it go. They were still pretty, so not a big deal. The bad part was I guess I got put on all these mailing and phone call lists after that. I managed to avoid it before but I started getting tons of junk mail. If you go there don't give them your address- ugh!

I got my wedding shoes here, and they were super comfortable all night. They had
about a 4 inch heel as well, and I only took them off for the last 45 minutes or
so of the reception. I had them dyed blue, and the color was so much lighter
than the swatch. The woman I spoke with was very nice and re-dyed them at no
charge, but they still were too light. When I came to pick them up, I talked to
a different woman and suggested maybe we just try to dye them the darker blue
they had. She got really upset when I suggested that and became extremely rude
after that, so I just kept it the way it was, and dealt with it. They were still
cute, just more of a baby blue than an electric blue. Two of my BMs got their
dresses here, and had no problems

AAA++++++I LOVE THOSE LADIES! I can't say enough good things about them. My dress fit perfectly, the alterations were great, everyone I worked with was wonderful. The day of the rehearsal I went to pick up the dress and they were still steaming it, I had to leave for the rehearsal so the owner asked me what time to bring it to the hotel and she was there right on time. She carried up to my suite, found a place to hang it, pulled the train out so it wouldn't wrinkle, and fluffed my petticoat. Loved them so much.

Ida's Custom Veils

We used Ida's for the wedding dress, bridesmaid's dresses, and tuxes. A good experience all around. Orders were done correctly and in a timely manner, alterations were good, and everything happened as it was supposed to.

Really nothing much to say here, Ida's was great. The people working there are friendly and available to answer questions, but they aren't all up in your face as you shop and they leave you alone unless you ask for help. They had a great selection of BM dresses, wedding dresses, and MOB dresses, and the prices were wonderful. We ended up picking two dresses that looked very similar and were the same material for the girls to pick from, and both dresses were well within everyone's price range.

they were great to work with and i walked in there with my budget and they showed me a few at my price point and a few under my price point. it was great!!!! the staff was so nice!

Mia's Bridal

I wasn't overly impressed with Mia's, but didn't have any problems either. My gown arrived on time and everything went as planned. I went in for two fittings, and both ran very smoothly. Mia is very sweet and professional. We worked with Jessica for the tuxes. I loved her! She made things very simple and was very organized. All of the tuxes fit and there were no problems. We received 10% back on my dress for renting our tuxes there and (I think) got two of the tuxes for free.

I didn't have any problems as Mia's, but didn't think the service was anything to write home about either. The girls were helpful, but I wouldn't call their service impressive. I didn't feel any pressure, which was nice, and I liked the fact that I could take pictures of the dresses.

The only thing we got from here was my mom's dress, but they were really nice when I went in to try on dresses (just didn't have the one), that I wanted to give them a good review. My mom didn't have any problems with her dress, and the alterations went well also. I think both her and my sister also got their jewelry from Mia's, and were happy with the selection and prices.

Oh they were great- second dress I tried on was the one- so easy. It was more expensive than my budget so I bought the sample dress for a discount and they threw in the veil. They did a great job, so many gorgeous dresses.

I was sooo happy with my dress, and the price made me happy too!
The alterations department was a little unorganized, so that was kind of
comfusing, and at the reception my bustle kept coming undone, so I'm not sure if that was their fault or mine. No one was really sure how to do the bustle, so I guess they could have explained it better. However, my experience there overall was a good one. My consultant was Ashley and she was very helpful and very enthusiastic about her job, which made shopping more fun. We didn't end up using them for bridesmaid dresses, but if you get your dress from Nolte's, they do offer a discount on BM dresses (note that they are located at a different Nolte's location than the wedding dresses) and other great perks as well. My mom got her dress from the Northland Nolte's (which is also where the BM and FG
dresses are) and she looked STUNNING. Loved her dress, and LOVED mine- didn't want to take it off!

it was kind of a drive for us every time I had to do something here because
it's in Independence and I live in Lawrence for school, but they had the
designer of my dress. The person I worked with was soooo nice and helpful, and, of course, I cannot remember her name, but everyone there seemed really friendly. The reason for the down grade was because of the alterations. You can see where they sewed in the bustles on the outside of the dress (which I'm sure only I noticed) and the bustles that were sewed in didn't actually lift the dress all the way off the floor and people kept catching the sides of it and stuff. Originally, I was nervous about wearing my 3 or 4 inch heels because I was told it would make my dress too short, but that was not the case at all. I got cups sewn into my dress, which was a sweetheart strapless dress, and am so glad I did. I didn't have to pull my dress up all night or worry about my bra showing or anything.

Maria helped me out last minute when I realized I'd lost too much weight for my dress! She took it in in less than a week when other seamstresses wouldn't try! Also, the rate was affordable and the workmanship was impecible!

Lana did a great job, she took about an inch in on each side of my dress, hemmed and bustled the dress. She also shortened the straps and took in the cups. Great job for a very reasonable price ($150)
Tuxes

Gave the guys the wrong color vests
and ties and then couldn't get the right ones in time. One of the guys also had the wrong shoes given to him. Looked over paperwork and everything was marked correct so it was an error on their part. Im still trying to get some money back for our guys to make it right but they are dragging their heels. Very disappointed!!
kelleyku05 D
They shipped 2 of the tuxes to the wrong store and we had to drive an hour to go get them the day of the rehearsal dinner! The guy at the store (Zona Rosa) was a total jerk about it and tried to make it into a joke. They did refund deposits. They didn't get a full on F because the tuxes were all right and looked good.

My husband wasn't really thrilled with the varying lengths of the sleeves and jackets (some shirts were longer than the jacket sleeves, some were the reverse) and one fo the GM's top buttons fell off at some point during the photos before the ceremony -- just not the highest quality. Maybe remember to have extra buttons around. Everything else was good with them, and they look really nice in photos and stuff. They were also available ahead of schedule, and professional to deal with. We ended up buying the GMs ties in the color we wanted because MW didn't have it, but no big deal - the GMs loved the ties and it was nice to give them something in addition to their other gifts.

Ok, this is really the only bad review I am going to
give. The men looked stunning on the wedding day, but getting there was a
process. First of all, I did not think we got great customer service. Second,
when the tuxes came in, they were ALL messed up. My H had to reorder his pants because they were WAY too big for him, and one of his other GM had a problem with sizing as well. His dad recieved the wrong tie and vest color. However, they did overnight everything and everything came in on time, and they all looked stunning, it was just a big headache.
